Water conservation notice issued in Alma

Residents and businesses in Alma are being told to reduce their water consumption.

The community, which is part of Fundy Albert, is facing lower-than-normal reservoir levels for this time of year.

“We ask that all water users take all necessary measures to reduce their water usage,” said a Facebook post from the municipality.

“Your cooperation is essential to maintaining a sustainable water supply for the entire community.”

Residents are urged to take shorter showers and only run full loads in washers and dishwashers.

They are also being asked to avoid using water during peak hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“Do not fill swimming pools or hot tubs without first contacting the Village Office for approval,” said the post.

The water conservation notice has become a regular occurrence in recent years, especially as more people visit the community during the busy summer tourist season.

More than $12 million in government funding was announced in late 2023 for two new wells and related infrastructure in the community.
