Canada Day: What’s open and closed in Greater Saint John

Canada Day is a statutory holiday in New Brunswick, which means many places normally open on a weekday will not be.

Malls, big-box stores and most grocery stores will be closed, though the Saint John City Market will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

If you need a prescription, some drug stores will be open reduced hours.

NB Liquor and Cannabis NB stores will be closed, but agency liquor outlets will be open.

Banks, post offices, and all government offices will also be closed, and there will be no mail delivery.

Saint John Transit buses will not be running. Garbage and compost collection in the city will follow its regular schedule.

If you are unsure if something is open, it is best to call ahead.

Meanwhile, many communities are holding events to celebrate Canada Day. We have posted a list here.
