New temporary dog park for Saint John’s south end

Residents in the south end of Saint John will be getting a new temporary dog park in the coming weeks.

The dog park at Rainbow Park was recently closed as redevelopment work begins for a new K-8 school.

Work started Monday on a temporary dog park at Tin Can Beach, which officials said should be ready in two weeks.

“The temporary Dog Park will help ensure that residents and their canine companions continue to have access to a safe and enjoyable off-leash space during the construction period,” said a news release from the city.

Officials said the long-term plan is to put a dog park back in Rainbow Park once the school project is complete.
