2 teens arrested after stolen truck incident in Florenceville

Two teens from Saint John and St. George have been arrested after stealing a truck in Florenceville, north of Woodstock.

RCMP say the truck was spotted on Highway 2 in Florenceville around 8:30 p.m. on Friday and initially stopped during a traffic check.

The truck sped off moments later. Officers deployed a tire deflation device, but the truck veered away, narrowly missing one officer and sideswiping a police vehicle.

The driver continued to flee, and police did not pursue.

The truck was later found abandoned in a wooded area off Highway 130 near Wicklow. Police report that the suspects, aged 17 and 16, fled into the woods.

One was arrested quickly, while the other was found after a five-kilometre search with help from a police dog and aerial support.

Both teens were released and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
