The former CEO of the IWK in Halifax has been found guilty of fraud Friday, after a retrial.
Tracey Kitch was first convicted in 2022 for fraud over $5,000 after charging $47,000 worth of personal expenses to a corporate credit card in 2018.
She was sentenced to five months in jail but was released on bail, pending an appeal-which was successful- and a new trial that was ordered.
The retrial started last year.
Kitch was appointed CEO in 2014.
“This case underscores the importance of accountability and the public’s trust in our institutions,” says the province’s Public Prosecution Service in an email to our newsroom. “Leaders entrusted with public resources are held to clear standards, and today’s verdict reflects the court’s careful assessment of the evidence and the rule of law.”
The case will return to Kentville court, September 9, for a sentencing date.
