6 youths arrested in violent Saint John incidents: police

Six youths have been arrested in what Saint John police describe as several recent violent crimes in the community.

The teens, who range in age from 14 to 18 years old, were taken into custody for multiple offences, including:

  • Robbery
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of stolen property
  • Administering a noxious thing
  • Mischief under $5,000

Some of the accused were also on probation orders or deferred custody and supervision orders before their arrests and will also answer to those charges.

Police said the incidents in question included one on Prince William Street that was captured on video and circulated on social media.

Several youths were involved in a physical altercation where weapons were allegedly used. A window at a nearby business was also broken during the disturbance.
