People are being asked to avoid the intersection of McAllister Drive and Westmorland Road after a gas line was damaged Tuesday evening.
The City of Saint John posted to its Facebook page at approximately 6:40 p.m. that the contractor working at the intersection by Cineplex Theatres had struck a natural gas line. Emergency crews were on the scene.
The post was updated at 7:15 p.m., advising the gas flow had been stopped.
Crews will remain on scene until permanent repairs are completed.
The city is asking people to avoid the area.
