Update: Man, 36, arrested for 1st degree murder in Saint John homicide

A man is facing first degree murder charges in a homicide investigation in Saint John.

An unconscious 41-year-old man was found in the Taylor Avenue area after police responded to a call involving a weapon at 12:17 a.m., Monday.

The man had serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Later Monday afternoon, around 4 p.m., a 36-year-old suspect was arrested inside a business on University Avenue.

He was charged and held for murder charges, possessing a firearm while prohibited and breach of probation order.

The suspect is scheduled for court, Tuesday afternoon.

Police are also looking into an incident that occurred at 12:37 a.m. on Foster Thurston Drive. They believe the two incidents are connected.

Police have asked the public in that area to check any security camera footage they may have.
