SIRT investigating serious injury after Woodstock police interaction

The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) is investigating after a man was seriously injured following an interaction with the Woodstock Police Force.

SiRT said Woodstock police attempted to stop a vehicle for a motor vehicle offence on Main Street in the early morning of October 10.

The driver did not stop, and the vehicle later crashed. Police said the two occupants fled on foot.

SiRT explained that the driver, an adult male, was located later that day, arrested and taken to the Woodstock Police station.

He complained of pain and was transported to Upper River Valley Hospital, then transferred to Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, where he was admitted with serious injuries.

SiRT said it has assumed responsibility for the investigation because of the seriousness of the man’s injuries.
