RCMP officer in N.B. charged with assault, uttering threats

The Serious Incident Response Team has charged a New Brunswick RCMP officer with assault and uttering threats following an investigation that began in July.

SiRT said it received a referral from the RCMP on July 15 regarding allegations of domestic assault. The agency said it began its investigation immediately.

The officer was charged on November 3 with one count of assault and one count of uttering threats, according to SiRT.

A second assault charge was laid the following day.

The officer is scheduled to appear in court in Saint John on November 13 and in Moncton on November 17.

SiRT said it would not provide further comment while the case is before the courts.
