Applications open for winter P.R.O. Kids programs in Saint John

Families in Greater Saint John can now apply for help with winter activities through Positive Recreation Opportunities (P.R.O.) for Kids.

The City of Saint John said the charitable service provides financial support to eligible children between the ages of 2 and 18.

The program helps cover registration fees so children can take part in recognized sports, recreation, arts or cultural activities.

The city said applications for the 2025–2026 winter season must be submitted online by December 15.

Funding is awarded on a first‑come, first‑served basis.

More than 20,000 children in financial need have received support through P.R.O. Kids since the program began, according to the city release.

The service is available to families in Saint John, Grand Bay‑Westfield, Quispamsis and Rothesay who meet the income threshold.

The city said all administration costs are covered by the participating municipalities, which allows donations to go directly toward assisting children.
