$120K to strengthen training in N.B. tourism sector

The provincial government is providing $120,000 to help strengthen New Brunswick’s tourism workforce through new training programs.

The funding is part of a memorandum of understanding between the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture and the Tourism Industry Association of New Brunswick.

The agreement will focus on digital readiness, online marketing, content creation and sustainable business practices, according to a government release.

Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Isabelle Thériault said the partnership reflects priorities outlined in Fresh Perspective: New Brunswick’s Tourism Strategy 2026-2031.

“Through key partnerships, we will help the industry build capacity in business planning, training programs and itinerary development, fostering a resilient, innovative and entrepreneurial industry ready to grow,” Thériault said.

Ginette Doiron, CEO of the Tourism Industry Association of New Brunswick, said the funding will give operators access to practical training tailored to regional realities.

“This partnership with the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture reflects a shared commitment to building a stronger, more resilient tourism sector by ensuring our tourism professionals are equipped with the knowledge and skills to thrive in an increasingly competitive marketplace,” Doiron said.

The province said the training will be adapted to local needs and priorities, while encouraging collaboration across regions.
