Oland Family Urge NBPC To Re-Start Inquiry Into SJPD

The Oland family urging the provincial police commission to re-start its inquiry into the handling of Richard Oland’s murder investigation by the Saint John police force.

A statement issued by the family’s lawyer Bill Teed says they are certain the investigation into Dick Oland’s murder was “flawed, incomplete and most certainly tarnished by the action of the Saint John police force.”

It goes on to say the Court’s decision to conduct the trial by judge alone negates the argument, one they never agreed with, by the New Brunswick Police Commission that it can’t investigate the Saint John police force while a jury trial for the murder was pending or underway.

The statement goes on to say they can see no principled reason why the NBPC needs to suspend its investigation.

They are adding their voices to that of Dennis’ legal counsel in demanding that the New Brunswick Police Commission immediately resume the inquiry.

The statement is signed by Connie Oland, Lisa Andrik Oland and Derek and Jacqueline Oland and family.
