On Day 7 of the Dennis Oland second-degree murder trial, Sergeant Mark Smith, a forensic identification officer, was back on the stand.
Smith is testifying about his work at the crime scene on July 7th 2011.
When he arrived at scene of crime after putting on his protective suit he found two officers in the office looking at Oland’s body. He says he did not authorize them to enter the scene. I ordered them to get out of my crime scene. pic.twitter.com/MAgh8uhRy1

Smith says there were officers in the second-floor when he went left to go put on his white protective suit to process the scene. When he returned five minutes later he found an inspector and a constable in the office staring down at Richard Oland’s bludgeoned head.
He testifies he did not give them permission to enter the scene and ordered them to leave.
Saint John Police Constable Rob Carlisle also testifying on Friday and he was told to look for video from July 6th 2011, the day before Richard Oland’s body was found.
He tells the defence he was told to look on any surveillance video for a person five feet 10 inches tall wearing beige pants and dark blazer but was never given a name.
