In the NHL:

Shea Weber and Artturi Lehkonen each picked up a pair of goals as Montreal downed the Rangers 5-2 to snap a five-game losing streak.

Elsewhere, Ottawa pounced San Jose 6-2, Vancouver fell to Dallas 2-1, Winnipeg edged New Jersey 4-3 in overtime, Toronto downed Minnesota 5-3, Edmonton got past Vegas 2-1, and the Bruins fell to Detroit 4-2.

Meantime, William Nylander has agreed to a six-year contract extension with the Maple Leafs with an average annual value of $6.9 million.

In Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action:

The Saint John Sea Dogs fell to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 7-1.

Charlie DesRoches had the lone goal for Saint John.

In junior hockey action:

The St. Stephen Aces lost to the Campbellton Tigers 5-2.

Everett Hicks and Adam Zimmermann scored for the Aces.

In the NBA:

The Toronto Raptors downed Cleveland 106-95 for their eighth straight win.

Kawhi Leonard had a game-high 34 points for Toronto.

In ACAA basketball:

The UNB Saint John women fell to the Mount Allison University Mounties 70-50.

Autumn DeMerchant had 15 points for UNB Saint John and Gabrielle Fader added 14 points.

The UNB Saint John men also lost their game to Mount Allison by a score of 82-74.

Matthew Brown scored 15 points while Jacob Vickers picked up 13 points for UNB Saint John.
