Saint John To Host Liberal Leadership Convention

The New Brunswick Liberal Association is one step closer to selecting a new leader.

Over the weekend, the board of directors approved the appointment of a leadership steering committee.

The board wants the committee to meet as soon as possible to discuss the rules of the leadership race, including the timing of a convention.

The steering committee is expected to report back to the board with recommendations by mid-January.

Board members also voted to hold the leadership convention in Saint John for the first time since 1998.

Leader Brian Gallant announced his resignation in mid-November but said he will stay on until his replacement is chosen.
