In Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action:
The Saint John Sea Dogs defeated Charlottetown for the first time this season by a score of 6-4.
Maxim Cajkovic and William Poirier each had a pair of goals while Robbie Burt and Nicholas Deakin-Poot also scored.
The Sea Dogs are back on the ice Saturday night as they host Cape Breton at 7 p.m.
In the NHL:
Chris Tierney had a pair of goals and former Sea Dogs player Thomas Chabot picked up one as Calgary doubled up Detroit 4-2.
Mark Scheifele scored twice, including the game-winning goal, as Winnipeg edged Chicago 4-3 in overtime.
Connor McDavid recorded two goals in Edmonton’s 4-1 win over Philadelphia.
Elsewhere, Boston fell to Pittsburgh 5-3, the Rangers lost to Arizona 4-3 in overtime, and New Jersey downed Vegas 5-4 in overtime.
In junior hockey action:
The St. Stephen Aces edged Grand Falls 3-2 in overtime.
Ryan O’Toole, Liam Smith and Michael Waugh scored for St. Stephen.
The Aces are back at home Saturday night to play Summerside at 7 p.m.
In the NBA
Kawhi Leonard had a game-high 28 points, but it was not enough as the Raptors fell to Portland 128-122.
Toronto still leads the league standings with a 23-8 record, 2.5 half games ahead of Milwaukee.
