The mayors from New Brunswick’s three largest cities have met once again to discuss their biggest priorities.
Fredericton mayor Mike O’Brien welcomed Saint John mayor Don Darling and Moncton mayor Dawn Arnold to the capital city on Friday.
Darling said the latest tri-city mayors’ meeting focused on several topics, including homelessness.
“What are the short-term actions, but even more importantly, what are the medium and longer-term actions that we need to take to ensure we have the proper supports in place,” Darling said.
Darling said he believes we need a long-term housing strategy which includes traditional housing and the proper supports to go along with it.

The mayors also met with Local Government Minister Jeff Carr to discuss municipal reform, which Darling believes is the number one priority for municipalities.
“We talked about articulating exactly what municipal reform looks like,” Darling said. “Things like taxation would be a municipal reform and taking a look at 1960s tax regulations and bringing them into the modern age.”
The mayors also discussed immigration and what they can do to address the growing need for talent in their communities.
Friday’s meeting was the sixth such meeting the mayors have held since being elected in 2016.
