Snow Expected For New Year’s Day

If you have travel plans for New Year’s Day, you will want to keep an eye on the forecast.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, warning of up to 15 centimetres of snow for Tuesday.

“A low pressure system over the Great Lakes on Monday will advance eastward toward the Maritimes on Tuesday,” the statement reads.

Forecasters say snow will begin over western New Brunswick just after midnight Monday night and spread eastward by Tuesday morning.

They say the snow should end in the afternoon, or taper to showers or drizzle in southern regions.

“Should the track or intensity of this system change as it approaches our region these amounts could change significantly,” the forecaster said.

Residents are encouraged to monitor alerts and forecasts for the latest information.
