Singing Saint John Sisters Bring In $71k For Five Neighbourhoods

The five priority neighbourhoods in Saint John can keep a lot of programs going thanks to $50,000 from the Friars Sisters.

They are the proceeds of the singing family’s annual concert at the Imperial Theatre in late November.

Tracy Friars and her sisters unveiling the cheque for more than $71,000 on Friday morning at the Crescent Valley Resource Centre and she spoke to our newsroom about why they chose to support the priority neighbourhoods for the second time since 2015.

“They are so passionate about what they do. Each priority neighbourhood has their own challenges but, they are so supportive of one another.”

Another $21,000 will be used as seed money for the sisters’ endowment fund set up last year through the Saint John Community Foundation.

All proceeds from future Friars sisters concerts will go directly to the endowment fund to support for projects in the priority neighbourhoods.
