Woman Arrested After Shots Fired At First Responders

RCMP say a woman has been arrested after shots were fired at first responders in Dieppe.

Police said it all started after a car went off the road near the Moncton airport on Saturday afternoon.

They said when firefighters, paramedics and officers arrived, they were fired upon by a woman at the scene.

“After approximately 45 minutes, the woman was taken into police custody,” the RCMP said in a news release Saturday evening.

“She was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries sustained during her arrest.”

As of 4PM RCMP cruisers have blocked off Blvd Adelaide Savoie with other emergency vehicles seen in the background. Witness Scott Gallagher says he was driving by with his family when he saw a car crashed into the trees. He went to help the woman inside and called 911. Gallagher says when first responders arrived they approached the vehicle and he saw the back window of the car blow out and heard what he believes were two gun shots. He describes hearing someone yell ‘Gun gun gun’ and the first responders scrambling away from the vehicle. He doesn’t know if there were injuries and was waiting to give his statement to police when I spoke with him. No official word yet from the RCMP. #moncton #monctonnews #dieppe #rcmp #nb #nbnews
