More Details About Oland Retrial Timeline

The court has given an idea of timing for Dennis Oland’s second-degree murder trial.

Lawyers told Justice Terrence Morrison on Wednesday the evidentiary portion should be finished by mid-March.

Morrison said he would give the Crown and the defence one month to complete their written submissions.

The justice said it would take at least a month for him to prepare his decision, putting the trial conclusion somewhere between late May and early June.

Another retired Saint John police officer took the stand on Wednesday morning during Day 16 of the trial.

Const. Keith Copeland described his role in several searches, including the exterior of Dennis Oland’s property, Riverside Park and the Bill McGuire Centre.

Copeland told the court nothing significant was found in relation to Richard Oland’s murder.
