Another Day of Cross-Examination For Sgt. Smith

Forensics Officer Sergeant Mark Smith being cross-examination again today by defence lawyer Michael Lacy on Day 20 of the Dennis Oland second-degree murder trial.

He asked Smith about his meticulous processing of the Oland vehicle using two different chemical re-agents to test for presumptive blood stains.

Lacy walked Smith through 69 photos he took of the vehicle and he told the court he found no evidence of any blood stains in the vehicle and no signs that the car had been cleaned prior to being seized by police.

Lacy notes that Smith did a meticulous job with the car but, allowed police officers to use the washroom at 52 Canterbury Street before it had been processed and Smith agreed with him.

It will be a short day on Friday and Justice Terrence Morrison indicated due to the pending storm on Sunday and Monday, he highly doubts the court will be sitting again until Tuesday.
