Chipman Woman Faces Charge in Salmon River Stabbing

A stabbing in Salmon River on Wednesday night leads to an attempted murder charge and a psychiatric evaluation for a Chipman woman.

Minto RCMP officers responded to a stabbing at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday night where a 40-year-old woman was sent to the hospital with several wounds.

A 54-year-old woman and a 61-year-old man were arrested at a home in Chipman later the same night. The man was questioned and later released.

Joanne Alice Lewis appeared in Burton Provincial Court on Thursday and was charged with attempted murder and sent for a psychiatric evaluation.

Lewis is due back in court next month.
