Ringing It In! New Year’s Traditions Near And Far

Here in Canada, each New Year brings warm celebrations with friends, fireworks, and of course… the big countdown!

If you’re in Italy, wearing red underwear is said to bring you good luck in the coming year.

In Spain, it’s tradition to try to eat 12 grapes, one for every chime of the clock. If you finish them all in time, you’re promised 12 months of luck.

If you’re in Denmark, don’t be offended if you find broken dishes on your doorstep! It’s just your friends throwing old plates at your house to show how much they love you. The more broken dishes, the more friends you have!

In Colombia, grabbing an empty suitcase and running around the block as fast as you can is said to guarantee a year full of trips.

And in Brazil, folks head to the beach wearing all white for peace.

At the end of the year, no matter where you’re celebrating, every tradition shares the same goal. It’s out with the old, and in with the luck.

Wishing you and yours a very happy 2026!
