New Brunswick Youth Orchestra – Live in Saint John

January 11 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Imperial Theatre, 12 King Square South, Saint John
Tickets: $30 regular | $25 member | $15 youth
Following its groundbreaking, sold-out performance of Mahler’s First Symphony at the National Arts Centre, the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra is excited to return to the stage at the Imperial Theatre for its 61st season. This year’s theme Vive le Canada is a tribute to a true national treasure, New Brunswick’s own NBYO.
Concert highlights include:
- The classic Canadian story, The Hockey Sweater
- Márquez’s fiery Conga del Fuego Nuevo
- Tchaikovsky’s powerful Symphony No. 5
The NBYO is the senior orchestra of the award winning Sistema NB program. Over 90% of the musicians onstage began playing their instruments in a Sistema NB Centre across our province. Today, Sistema NB engages more than 1,400 children in free programming, 3 hours daily, 5 days/week, in eleven orchestra centres throughout the province and is the largest program of its kind in Canada.
Conducted by Musical Director Antonio Delgado, The NBYO tours throughout New Brunswick each year, commissions original works, engages well known guest artists. The NBYO enjoys large and growing audiences, has won numerous awards and prizes and is recognized as one of the most accomplished youth orchestras in Canada.
