Shawn Justin Chad Smith

September 20, 1974  –  February 13, 2026

With heavy hearts, the family of Shawn Smith announce his unexpected passing, which occurred on Friday, February 13, 2026. Born September 20, 1974, in Saint John, he was a son of Julie Russell.

An incredibly talented and committed artist, Shawn’s paintings were loved by many, far and wide. He leaves his legacy behind in his artwork and in his loving family.

Shawn is survived by his son, Justin England (Lia LeBlanc); sister, Melony Smith (Rob Stanley); brother, Russell Smith (Christy Reardon); nieces, Mariah and Mia; nephews, Brandon and Jax; great-nephew, Conan; great-niece, Julia; and his wonderful and special worker, Kristie.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424). There will be no visitation and funeral services.

For those who wish, remembrances to the SPCA or the Canadian Mental Health Association would be appreciated by the family.
