Desire wins

Desire Wins.

As we’re all watching the Olympics and cheering on New Brunswick’s own Courtney Sarault, I keep thinking about two words.

Desire wins.

At that level, everyone is talented. Everyone trains hard. Everyone has support. That’s not what separates people.

The separator is desire.

Desire is power. It’s fuel. It’s what gets you up early when you don’t feel like it. It’s what keeps you going when you fall, when you lose, when it would be easier to coast.

Desire is the voice that says…

I want that.

Not as a wish. Not as a compliment.

As a decision.

When you say, “I want that,” something shifts. You stop watching from a distance and you start owning it. It becomes personal. It becomes yours.

We all see what Courtney’s “that” is. The podium. The medal. Representing her country. Excellence on the world stage.

So here’s the real question.

What’s your “that”?

And don’t just say, “I want that.”

Say, “I REALLY want that.”

Because when you REALLY want something, you move differently. You focus differently. You commit at a higher level.

At the end of the day, desire wins.

Congratulations Courtney, on all your success. You’ve earned every bit of it.
