Mike Stewart Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our younger brother and beloved father, Michael Joseph Stewart, on March 2, 2026, at his home with his loving partner and dogs by his side. He was born in Saint John, NB, on July 10, 1968, to the late Willard and Isabella (Wearing) Stewart and was the loving partner to Amanda MacDonald.
Michael lived life on his own terms, and can actually be characterized as living three separate lives in his one. He grew up in the church serving as an altar boy, and he was in the Cub Scouts and the Squires, to later in his years realizing how good he had it with his family and friends becoming even closer to them. He got a job with Debly’s and Galbraith’s Construction Companies, eventually leading to being made Foreman. He was a key component to establishing and enhancing the asphalt division within Galbraith’s and was an integral part of the organization. Mike was a hard worker and was a very appreciated employee, looked up to by many coworkers. He was skilled with his abilities to both work with and mentor employees to appreciate the pleasure that goes into doing a job well. Growing up he was always close to his family, especially his mother, but his sisters, Deborah and Carol-Ann always considered him to be their baby boy due to the age difference between them. Mike may have outgrown his wild days, but he always, always remained a lover of Harley Davidson Motorcycles and would never give them up. They were a way of being free. He was a good man and later in life he went back to the church and introduced faith back into his life. He was a very devoted dad to his daughters and they created so many special memories together over the years. He loved them unconditionally and cherished every moment with them. He was a special son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, coworker and friend who held a special spot in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed.
Along with his partner, Amanda, he is survived by his special nephew and friend, Nathan (Jessica); his daughters; Emma Maillet (Bradley) and Kirsten Stewart- Stevens (Geoffrey Cormier); his grandchildren, Colbee, Emilia, Kaia, Everly and Kayden; his siblings, Robert (Odette Guimond), Deborah Stewart (Tammy), Carol-Ann Makepeace (David) and Harvey Stewart (Brenda),his partner Amanda’s parents, Fred and Valerie MacDonald; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, his dearest friend, Bobby Richardson (aka Fat Bob) and we can’t forget his two beloved pups, Gibson and Timber.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his uncle, Tom Wearing; as well as grandchild, Ellee-Lynn Maillet.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue (506-634-1701) where visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Our Lady of the Assumption Church on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 12 Noon with interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations in Mike’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
