Promoting Wellness Together: The Impact of Curl for Mental Health

Events like Curl for Mental Health play an essential role in building a healthier, more supportive community. Not only do they raise public awareness about mental health, but they also help reduce the stigma that too often surrounds mental illness. Just as importantly, they create an opportunity to fundraise for the community programs and services that so many individuals rely on.

These programs give people the tools they need to strengthen their mental well‑being and connect them with vital resources during difficult times. With the support of our community, we can continue sharing the message loud and clear: mental health matters, and everyone deserves access to the support they need. This event is a chance to come together for a day of fun, connection, and purpose — while helping spread that message even further.

Why Mental and Physical Health Go Hand in Hand

Mental health and physical health are deeply connected. Regular physical activity has been shown to improve overall psychological well‑being and can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression for many people. That’s why the Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick (CMHA of NB) is committed to addressing all aspects of mental wellness — from prevention and education to support for individuals living with mental illness.

The statistics remind us why this work is so important:

  • 1 in 5 Canadians will experience a mental illness in their lifetime.
  • But in reality, 5 in 5 Canadians will experience a mental health challenge at some point.

Every one of us benefits from practicing good mental and physical health habits. When we work together to support well‑being in all its forms, we help build a stronger, healthier Saint John for everyone.
