Shirley Katharine Shaw

December 6, 1933  –  March 12, 2026

It is with Heavy Hearts, but with appreciation for a life well lived, that the family of Shirley Kathleen Shaw announce her peaceful passing, which occurred on March 12, 2026 at the Loch Lomond Village, Maple House, surrounded by her family.

Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on December 6, 1933; she was the daughter of the late Harry and Myrtle (Nee Melvin) Shaw.

Shirley enjoyed life, had a kind word and a quick smile for everyone she talked to. She was a very outgoing, friendly lady , making many friends wherever she lived. Shirley graduated from Saint John High School in 1952, then graduating from Saint John Nursing School in 1956, where she trained and worked at the Old General Hospital as a Nurse. She soon traveled to different places while working to see the world. Finally she settled in Vancouver, but never saying no to trying new activities or going places. In 2006 Shirley moved back home to be close to her family. Shirley loved travelling, singing, dancing and had a gift and enjoyed drawing and painting.

Shirley is survived by her brother, Gary Shaw (Linda) of Halifax NS; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and several very very close friends.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved sister, Violet Wilcox; and her brothers, Leslie (Les) Shaw, Gerald Shaw, and Percy Melvin.

Shirley’s family would like to extend a very special “Thank You” to all the staff and Volunteers at Maple House Loch Lomond Village, for their kindness and exceptional care during her stay here.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row Saint John, NB (506) 634-7424 from where visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 11:30 AM in Brenan’s Chapel.
