August 26, 1935 – March 29, 2026
The family of Doris Marina Messer (August 26, 1935- March 29, 2026) are saddened to announce her passing. Doris was the daughter of the late Harry Leonard Messer and Hazel Mae (Clark) Messer. She is survived by her brothers Robert (Sandi) and Gordie (Sandra) and her sisters-in-law Betty Messer and Gwen Messer. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved unconditionally and was like a second grand mother to. The family tree extends for four generations, and Doris was proud to know she touched many of those lives. Family visits of all generations were welcomed. Doris was predeceased by brothers Victor, Walter, Douglas, sister Vivian (Howland) sister-in-law Elizabeth (Messer) and brother-in- law Bud Howland.
Doris had many friends from all walks of life. Her laugh was her signature and was contagious, always sharing funny stories and keeping everyone’s mood light.
Doris volunteered with Meals on Wheels for years and with her churches Park Avenue United and Harmony United. She was a woman of faith.
Doris worked for 27 years for NBTel as chief operator and in the Business office where she trained future reps. She made many lifelong friends during this time and has kept in touch with so many of them. They will miss her friendship dearly.
Doris enjoyed entertaining, her home was the go-to for card games, afternoon tea or a glass of wine. Travelling was important and she had the opportunity to travel to many fascinating places around the world. Family loved to hear of her travelling stories.
Exercising was important to her; she made friends at the aquatic centre and GoodLife fitness and bowled with the Harmony bowlers.
Doris will be missed by so many friends, and her family will cherish their many memories; she made everyone feel loved with no judgement.
Special thanks to neighbours Bob and Pat the family appreciates you.
