July 25, 1942 – April 3, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Gertrude Dionne, who passed away on April 3, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, at the age of 83. Born on July 25, 1942, Mary lived a life marked by strength, warmth, and quiet grace.
Mary will be fondly remembered for her kind, loving, and generous nature. She had a big heart and always made sure everything was fair among her children and grandchildren. A true social butterfly, Mary loved spending time with others and was a longtime member of the Red Hat Society, where she cherished outings and companionship.
She had a well-known love for bingo and rarely missed an opportunity to play, something that brought her great joy throughout her life. Mary also had an infamous sweet tooth, often keeping treats tucked away throughout her home, something those close to her will always remember with a smile. Above all, she loved her grandchildren deeply, and they were the center of her world.
Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Normand Joseph Dionne; her parents, John and Christine (Williams) Hebert; her siblings, George Hebert, Annette Hebert, and Peter Hebert; her father- and mother-in-law, Francis and Aurore Dionne; and her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Guilda Boutot, Oram Dionne, Odeo Dionne, Carol Dionne, Rachel Dionne, Emilienne Dionne, Gina Dionne, Gerald Beaulieu, Roland Boutot, and infant grandson Sean Dionne.
She is lovingly remembered and survived by her children: Shirley Cloutier (Peter) of Martinon, N.B., Theresa Dionne-Snodgrass (Stan) of Saint John, N.B., Christina Baird (Brad) of Lorneville, N.B., Carla Roy (Joe) of Woodstock, N.B., and John Dionne of Saint John, N.B. She is also survived by her brothers, John Hebert (Karen) and Raymond Hebert (Terra), both of Saint John, N.B.
Mary will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Troy Cloutier, Andrew Dionne, Kyle Cloutier, Jonathan Dionne, Jarrett Dionne, Rebecca Blackwood, Matthew Blackwood, Curtis Baird, Brandon Richardson, and Shaelene Renée Thomas, as well as many much-loved great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
