Today is Earth Day – Let’s Keep Saint John Beautiful

Today is Earth Day, a time recognized around the world to celebrate our planet and remind us that even small actions can make a big difference. Here in Saint John, we’re lucky to live in one of the most beautiful and historic cities in Atlantic Canada — surrounded by the Bay of Fundy, parks, waterfront trails, and vibrant neighborhoods.

Earth Day is the perfect time to give back to the place we call home.

Helping clean up around Saint John doesn’t have to be complicated. You can start by picking up litter in your neighbourhood, along local streets, parks, beaches, or walking trails. Even filling one small garbage bag helps keep trash out of our green spaces and waterways.

You can also reduce waste at home by recycling properly, composting food scraps, and cutting back on single-use plastics like bags and bottles. Planting flowers, trees, or starting a small garden is another great way to support pollinators and brighten your property.

If you’re out and about today, why not bring gloves and a bag and do a quick clean-up wherever you are? It’s a simple act that can inspire others to do the same.

Saint John is known for its natural beauty, strong community spirit, and connection to the water. Earth Day is a great reminder that keeping our city clean starts with all of us.

Happy Earth Day — and thanks for doing your part to keep Saint John shining.
