Michel Joseph Giroux

January 21, 1953 ~ April 21, 2026 (age 73)

It is with a broken heart that the family of Michel “Mike” Giroux announce his passing at Bobby’s Hospice on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, with his loving family by his side. Born in Dalhousie on January 21, 1953, he was the beloved child of Edgar and Theresa (Née. Dorion) Giroux.

Michel was a man who found joy in the simple, meaningful things in life. He loved spending time in his garden, tending to it with patience and care, much like the way he nurtured the people around him. He was deeply connected to his community through the French Association, and he carried that pride with him always.

He also had a curious spirit, whether watching birds, hiking through the woods, or setting up camp under the open sky, Michel appreciated the beauty of the world around him. A passionate stamp collector, he was a true dilettante in the best sense of the word, always eager to learn, explore, and enjoy life’s many interests, including his involvement with Adanac.Michel was also involved in the Sea Shanty Festival in St. Martins where year after year, he enjoyed the music, the atmosphere and the chance to celebrate life.

But above all else, his greatest joy was Holly. Anyone who saw them together could see the happiness they shared, especially when they were dancing. Michel came alive in those moments, full of laughter and light, simply enjoying being by her side. Through it all, Michel remained devoted to his family, holding close the people he loved most.

He leaves behind the love of his life for the past 16 years, Holly; son Tyrone (Felica); daughter Naomi (Darren); grandchildren Kayeddence and Kamyl Abdul; sisters Margo (Marcel) Pelletier, Jacqueline Giroux, Bertha Giroux and Louise (Ed) Allard; best friend Tom Oland; as well as several friends, nieces and nephews.

Michel was predeceased by his parents and sister Lucinda.

The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Bobby’s Hospice and the staff of the Palliative Care unit at the SJRH for their kindness, dignity and comfort provided to Michel and our family.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd, Saint John, NB, E2J 2G3; (506)646-2424; Visitation will take place on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 2pm – 4pm and 6pm-8pm.
