Water Cooler Talk (April 27 – May 3)

Here’s 5 interesting things you can talk about this week with your family, friends and co-workers!

1: During American Prohibition, Saint John was a key port for sending alcohol down the eastern coast of the US. Ships were commonly loaded in Saint John harbour with false manifests to disguise their final destination.

2: The Spotted Salamander, which is common in our area, lays dormant underground throughout the winter, re-emerging between March and May.

3: Humans are born with 33 vertebrae, but as they age, some fuse together to form the sacrum and coccyx, resulting in about 24-26 separate vertebrae in adults.

4: Only female blackflies bite, requiring blood meals for egg production, while males feed on nectar.

5: “Kiss”, by Prince & The Revolution was the most played song on the radio in late April, 1986.
