Meet the people behind the care at Horizon

Meet Stephanie, who has been a radiation therapist at Horizon’s Saint John Regional Hospital for nearly 18 years!

Radiation therapists, like Stephanie, blend technical expertise with compassionate, patient-centered care. They use advanced technology to safely deliver life-saving radiation treatments to patients with cancer, while supporting patients in managing treatment-related side effects.

For Stephanie, the best part of the job is the daily interaction with patients.

“We’re able to develop relationships with patients and really make a difference in their cancer journey,” she said.

We want to thank Stephanie and Horizon’s dedicated radiation therapists for the care they provide.

Meet Michelle, Interim Nurse Manager Addiction Services.

In February, we announced the final phase of renovations was complete at Horizon’s Ridgewood Addiction and Mental Health campus in Saint John. Michelle was involved in all three phases of the renovations, so seeing the impact the renovations are having on client care has been very rewarding.

Michelle became a nurse because she wanted to help and support people. At Ridgewood, she’s able to build meaningful relationships with clients. Those relationships allow her to better support clients in realizing and achieving their recovery goals.

Working in the redesigned spaces, she’s seeing the impact they’re having every day on client care and the overall experience. It makes her role even more rewarding, and she’s proud to be part of the team at Ridgewood.

We’re recognizing Horizon’s Health Promotion/Population Health Team and how they help make the quiet and often unseen work of Public Health possible.

Meet Carlos, a Health Promotion Specialist with Public Health in Saint John. Carlos values connecting directly with people who use Public Health programs and services, hearing their stories, and understanding the real-life challenges and strengths that shape their health. These conversations keep his work grounded and reinforce the importance of building environments and systems that make healthy choices easier for everyone.

Carlos says #PublicHealthMatters because it focuses on fairness, prevention, and lasting impact—improving health for entire populations and creating meaningful change over time.

“Health promotion isn’t abstract or theoretical—it’s about real lives, real challenges, and real strengths.”
