MEOWDY to the Latimore Lake Cat Group!

While scrolling through Facebook on the weekend, Krista came upon a fantastic group called Latimore Lake Cat Group. She reached out to Linda Miller, one of the founders of the group, to find out all the “deets”.

General Information

Latimore Lake Cat Group provides shelter and vet care for abandoned and injured strays. This has been an ongoing initiative since 2003. Linda and her daughter started the group when her daughter brought home a four-week-old kitten. Today, they have close to 1,700 members on their Facebook group, along with close to 390 followers. In 2026, they have helped save 46 cats and kittens. In 2025, they saved 187. Over the years? So many that Linda has lost count!

Latimore Lake Cat Group does both fostering and adoptions. They do everything from trapping them right to getting them into their forever homes. When a kitten or cat is available for adoption, they are posted on the Facebook page. The cats and kittens can be met at the Global Pet Food store locations. Global Pets have the adoption application at their locations. Linda told us that kittens tend to go a little bit faster than the adult cats.

Fundraisers

Latimore Lake Cat Group has several different ongoing fundraisers.

Toonie Tuesdays – every Tuesday is so important to the rescue, especially during these very difficult times. Toonie Tuesdays help cover vetting and other monthly costs associated (food, litter, etc) while waiting to find an adoptive home, or for those that call the rescue home forever. With taking in cats that have ongoing medical issues or those harder to place felines, it increases the number in care. But those are the ones who truly need this group the most. It takes an immense amount of time, effort, and funds to care for those with special needs but it’s proven to be possible by having such a caring village of people who want to help them.

Every 2 dollars can help turn water to wine basically, and makes all of this possible . Etransfer can be made to latimorelakecats@gmail.com (Msg centre Toonie Tuesday)

Online auctions – Latimore Lake Cat Group has weekly online auctions. The items are all donated from the members. Bidding starts at $1.00. Their motto is every 50 cents and every dollar adds up to saving another cat or kitty. For anyone that wants to make a donation to the auction, they can message Linda Miller on the Facebook group to make arrangements for drop-off.

QR Code – Linda explained that her son-in-law actually created it for Latimore Lake Cat Group. The QR code will be found on their posters and business cards. People can find us the group quickly by scanning the code.

Find the Cat – Find the Cat is a draw that happens every Monday. People can purchase tickets one for $2, three for$5 or ten for $10. The prizes include gift cards which have been donated by businesses or individuals. A name is drawn, the wheel is spun and there’s a guaranteed winner each week until they find the cat, which is their logo on the wheel. When the cat is “found” they stop the game and the jackpot (at that point in time) is awarded. There is a maximum of $500 for their jackpot.

Recyclable donations – Fundy Redemption Center (Egbert St) has an account for Latimore Lake Cat Group. When you can drop off your recyclables, tell them it’s for Latimore Lake Cat Group and they’ll just add it up and put it onto their account. It adds up quickly! Last time Linda went to collect there was close to $180 for the month.

Upcoming Events
