N.B. gas prices break the $2 barrier

It looks like $2 gas may have finally arrived in New Brunswick.

An industry source reported Thursday that drivers can expect a 5.2-cent increase in all fuel prices this week.

That would push the maximum price of regular self-serve gas to about $2.02 per litre.

Diesel’s maximum price would hit more than $2.31.

In Nova Scotia, maximum regular self-serve prices currently range from $1.94 to $1.96 per litre while diesel is selling for between $2.15 and $2.17 per litre.

On Prince Edward Island, the maximum prices are currently $2.02 a litre for regular self-serve, more than $2.29 per litre for diesel and nearly $1.71 per litre for home heating oil.

The New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board adjusts prices every Friday at 12:01 a.m.
