A man in his 70s was handed a life sentence Wednesday for first-degree murder.
Alphonse Daigle of Pointe-Sapin pleaded guilty in March.
The charge related to the death of André Després on April 13, 2024.
Daigle was arrested that day after RCMP responded to reports of shots fired at a residence in Pointe-Sapin.
When police arrived, they found Després body.
On March 25, 2026, Daigle pleaded guilty in Moncton’s Court of King’s Bench.
Wednesday, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison with no possibility of parole for 25 years.
