Donald George Reid of Saint John, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully on May 15th, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 27, 1949, Donnie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose strength and love will never be forgotten.
Donnie is lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Barbara Reid; his daughters, Melissa England , Michelle Reid, and Tonja Doussaud; his cherished grandchildren, Jesse Reid, Gabrielle Savoie, Bennett Young, Paige Young, Xavier Doussaud, and Darienne Doussaud; and his great-grandchildren, Remi and Aubrie. He is also survived by his brothers, David (Mary Lou) Reid and Blair (Mary Ann) Reid. Donnie was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Mary Reid, and his brother, Stephen Reid.
A hardworking man who took immense pride in his work ethic, Donnie dedicated many years of service to Canada Packers Limited, and later served his community as a groundskeeper and caretaker at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
He was incredibly funny, quick with a joke, and loved making those around him laugh. To many, Donnie was a tough guy, but those closest to him knew the softer side he reserved for his girls and grandchildren. No matter how old his children grew, he never failed to lovingly pass along a piece of gum or a mint whenever he saw them. He loved spending time out in nature hunting, playing darts for many years, and playing softball. He was also a dedicated Toronto Blue Jays fan. Above all else, Donnie’s family will forever remember the warmth in his voice whenever he greeted them with his familiar words, “Hi honey.” He will be remembered lovingly as Donnie, Dad, and Grampy.
The arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (506 634 1701). Keeping with Donnie’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
