Advancing accessibility at YSJ: Share your experience

As we recognize National AccessAbility Week (May 31-June 6), YSJ is proud to join airports across Canada in celebrating progress and reaffirming our commitment to inclusive air travel for all.

This week highlights both the advancements made and the important work still ahead as we continue to remove barriers and create a welcoming environment for passengers, employees, and tenants.

Providing exceptional passenger experiences is one of the five key focus areas in YSJ’s strategic plan, and accessibility is central to achieving that goal.

Following a comprehensive site audit by AbilityNB in 2024, we have been prioritizing accessibility improvements each year. We are enhancing not only our physical spaces, but also communication, services, and overall travel comfort.

To build on this momentum, we have officially launched our Accessibility Survey. The survey invites passengers, employees, service providers, and visitors to share anonymous feedback on their airport experience. Insights gathered will help us evaluate progress, identify barriers, and prioritize future improvements as we continue our accessibility journey.

We are also seeking expressions of interest for our new Airport Accessibility Committee, which will bring together diverse perspectives and lived experiences to help guide ongoing improvements. If this sounds like you, please email us: info@ysjsaintjohn.ca

Accessibility goes beyond infrastructure; it’s about ensuring every traveller feels supported, respected, and able to move through the airport with confidence.

By listening, learning, and working together, YSJ is committed to delivering a more accessible and inclusive travel experience for everyone.
