Canada Post workers finish voting on tentative agreement, results expected soon

Canada Post workers have completed the voting process on a new tentative agreement.

Votes were cast between April 20 and May 30, with more details on the outcome expected to come out on June 1.

During the ratification process, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) says both sides agreed not to engage in any strike or lockout activity.

CUPW says the company began the year without a new collective agreement in place, creating uncertainty for both workers and customers.

Canada Post and CUPW reached tentative agreements for both the Urban and RSMC (Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier) bargaining units in December 2025.

According to the union, uncertainty around potential strike action left customers without clear information and contributed to a nearly $80 million loss compared to the same period last year.

However, Canada Post says it has begun strengthening its postal service to better support businesses and enable national commerce, while meeting its mandate to serve Canadians in a financially sustainable way.
