Water Cooler Talk (June 8 – June 14)

1: The first and oldest publicly funded school in Saint John – and, in fact in all of Canada – Saint John High School, first opened its doors in 1805.

2: If you look toward the western horizon about 45 minutes after sunset on June 8th and 9th, the two brightest planets in the night sky, Venus and Jupiter, will appear exceptionally close together.

3: Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are highly active across the province in June as they establish territories and breed.

4: Lee de Forest, often called the “Father of Radio Broadcasting,” became history’s first radio DJ in 1908 by broadcasting music from the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

5: Genesis released their 13th studio album, “Invisible Touch”, this week in 1986. It remains the bands most successful album, selling over 7 million copies.
