Judge Urges Accused Robber To At Least Speak With A Lawyer

A 26 year old man looking at charges in connection with two convenience stores robberies last week making a short court appearance.

Kyle Maguire is charged in connection with the armed robbery at the Korner Grocery on Princess Street a week ago.

City police told CHSJ News that Maguire will also be charged in connection to another robbery at Sam’s Variety on Carmarthen last Monday.

Maguire stood in the prisoner’s box wearing grey prison-issue sweats and seemed impatient with the court process.

Duty counsel asked Judge Marco Cloutier to make it clear to Maguire the importance of speaking with a lawyer about his case.

Judge Cloutier told Maguire “These charges are serious and could be very complicated for you without a lawyer, you should make an informed decision”.

Maguire will stay in jail until his next scheduled court appearance in early March.
