Maguire stood in the prisoner’s box wearing grey prison-issue sweats and seemed impatient with the court process.
Duty counsel asked Judge Marco Cloutier to make it clear to Maguire the importance of speaking with a lawyer about his case.
Judge Cloutier told Maguire “These charges are serious and could be very complicated for you without a lawyer, you should make an informed decision”.
Maguire will stay in jail until his next scheduled court appearance in early March.
