April 16, 1932 – July 13, 2026
Lock, Myrna Mae (nee Kincade) beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away quietly July 13, 2026, in her 94th year with family by her side holding her hand at the Bruce Grey Health Centre in Kincardine, Ontario. She was born on April 16, 1932 in Saint John, New Brunswick to James and Beulah Kincade (nee Appleby), the youngest of their eight children, a position which led her to be affectionately nicknamed “the Babe” by her father.
Myrna’s life was a testament to love, laughter and dedication. Her love of family reached no bounds. After graduating from Saint John High School Myrna trained as a switchboard operator. With experience gained in the field Myrna applied and accepted a position at the Irving Oil Refinery in Saint John. It was here she met her future husband, John. After marrying in 1961 the couple spent the next decade moving frequently due to John’s work, mostly throughout Europe, eventually arriving and settling in Kincardine, Ontario. During this time of travel Myrna gave birth to her three beloved children, all born in different countries. This small city girl, full of loving maternal strength, managed with ease to care for her growing family at a distance from traditional family support. Family connection meant everything to Myrna – she demonstrated her love and devotion every day dedicating time to everything from attending school activities, to lending a hand with any family task, to celebrating even the most minor of events and milestones with immense joy.
A woman of many talents, Myrna enjoyed cooking, knitting, embroidery, quilting, jigsaw puzzles and her flower garden. Some of her greatest joys came from compliments she received on her handicrafts or her cooking talents. Her love of flowers was nurtured by her own mother through the rose bushes they planted together at the family home in New Brunswick. The rose bushes were something she looked forward to seeing and showing her children whenever she went back to New Brunswick to visit. Although she loved the scent of roses her favorite flower was truly the Sweet Pea, so much so that she had Sweet Peas incorporated into her wedding bouquet.
Myrna was raised as a Baptist and loved and devoted her life to her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. She found great peace in both reading her Bible and in prayer. She never stopped saying the most beautiful Bible verse is Psalm 139:13.
Although she made a life in Ontario her heart was always in New Brunswick. She often mentioned the most beautiful place on earth was along the shores of the Saint John River. Myrna will be buried by her family at Ocean View Memorial Gardens on Latimore Lake in Saint John, New Brunswick.
Myrna is sadly missed by her husband of 62 years, John and her children Marion Bond (Leonard), Jennifer Duteau (Micheal), Alexander Lock (Michelle), her grandchildren Katarina, Tyler, Elspeth and Clare, her sister-in-law Jenny Glen of Scotland and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents James and Beulah Kincade and her brothers James, John, Bev and Murry as well as her sisters Olive, Velma and Beulah.
Myrna was a beautiful wife, mother and grandmother who will always be in our hearts.
We love you lots,
John, Marion, Jennifer and Alex
