Saint John is on track to find $2 million in cumulative savings by the end of the year.
The city’s Stephanie Rackley-Roach updated Common Council last week on the continuous improvement program.
Rackley-Roach says it was launched a couple of years ago with a goal of improving services while increasing value to residents.
She says some of the ways they’ve saved money are by streamlining the parking summons process and reviewing winter sidewalk maintenance routes.
“Moving forward, the continuous team has an established target of $3 million cumulative and hard savings by the end of 2019,” says Rackley-Roach. “Inclusive of previous targets, we are essentially looking to save another million dollars.”
She says a focus for next year will be looking at shared services opportunities and consolidating business processes used by the city’s agencies, boards and commissions.
