UPDATED: 28th Red Triangle Awards Celebrate Three Tireless Community Leaders

The 28th annual Red Triangle Award Gala was held last night.

The Red Triangle Award is presented as special recognition for long and meritorious service, outstanding contributions and achievement in the community.

This year the winners were Stephen and Bill MacMackin.

Bill Macmackin says they are humbled to even be part of the list.

“In the list of people that have gotten this award in the past because they are folks that we admire that have helped make Saint John a strong community, we just feel privileged to be included in that list anyway,” says MacMackin.

The Leader to Watch award went to Harry Daley who has done work in the so-called five priority neighbourhoods of Saint John.

“Because those are definitely areas of the city that require priority attention, for me it was the transition to I don’t consider that I am helping poor people, I am helping out my neighbours, these are people that I know personally,” says Daley.

The event raised $95,000 for the Strong Communities campaign at the Regional Y.
