Councillor Lowe Seeking Liberal Nomination For SJ Harbour

It’s official — Saint John councillor Gerry Lowe is looking for the Liberal nomination in Saint John Harbour for the September election.

The Ward 3 councillor was first elected to city council in the by-election in May of 2013 and was re-elected in May of 2016. He owned Vet’s Taxi for 43 years and worked for Canada post for 35 years.

Lowe says with his past experiences he feels he can do more for the city and his riding by sitting at the table in Fredericton. He tells CHSJ News if elected, he will keep fighting for fair taxation.

“It’s the same things that I’ve talked about through council. Fair taxation for the city. The municipal plan has got to change, we’ve got to be able to allow the city to do more things. It’s hand-tied right now,” says Lowe.

“It’s not that anybody thinks you’re going to go to Fredericton and change the world. But if you don’t get up there and fight and follow what you believe and what the people believe in in Saint John then nothing will change.”

The nomination convention for this riding is scheduled for May 8 at 6:30 pm at the Kent Theatre.
