Big bucks to boost innovation.
While in Saint John, Treasury Board President Roger Melanson announcing the New Brunswick Innovation Agenda which features a $53 million investment to foster growth and build space for research and development.

David Alston, the chief entrepreneur for the province, says we have a lot to be proud of in the private and public sectors.
“We need to celebrate that more, I certainly see it and I hope the rest of you keep your eyes open because with an investment like this it’s only going to go up the hill faster,” Alston says.
Alston says the idea of supporting start-ups to drive innovation began about 10 years in Saint John with Propel ICT and he says that idea is now an Atlantic Canadian idea.

“A lot of these startups started here in places like Connexionworks and places like Planet Hatch and VennCentre. These places are so important because they help people find each other”.
